How long has Diving Sun been around?

Diving Sun Interactive was founded in the fall of 2001. Our GameMasters possess over one hundred years of combined online gaming experience.

How experienced is the staff?

We have a well-seasoned staff of GameMasters who have worked in many different aspects for several different online games, including but not limited to: Gemstone lll, DragonRealms, Hercules & Xena, Realms of Exile, Aeternity, and Eaxia.

How many are on staff? You don't need to name names, but...

Since we are currently in development, we have a few representative GameMasters who are the public figureheads of Lost Isles. Behind the scenes, we have a crew of seventeen GameMasters who are hard at work bringing our vision to a reality on a technical, artistic and literary level.

What kind of projects does the staff work on? What is being worked on right now?

Currently, we are putting the finishing touches on many of the in-game systems, such as economy, engagement and magic. Also, we are hard at work designing and painting rooms that are the basis for the world itself. Currently under construction are Saotan of the island of Komadas and Chamkha on the island of Adu.

Who can I contact if I want to know about some aspect of the game?

It all depends on what question you have. If you have a comment about the website and the game, you can contact us at feedback@lostisles.com or if you have a question or comment about Diving Sun Interactive, please feel free to contact us at dsi@lostisles.com. If you are interested in becoming a GameMaster, we encourage you to go to the Opportunities page in the Diving Sun Interactive section of our website and fill out an application.

What are the goals of this enterprise? More specifically, where does the staff wish to place itself amongst the myriad of other online seekers of the entertainment dollar?

We seek a renaissance in MUD gaming by creating an in-depth gaming experience that will totally immerse the player in a detailed world full of exploration, adventure, and full-on fun.

Speaking of which, will it require payment? If so, one time or monthly?

We currently anticipate charging a monthly fee of $10.

Will there be a multi-tiered system with varying levels of game access or standing in regards to payment?

No.

Will you charge additional funds for in-game activities such as quests, merchants and special events?

No.

Will you allow the purchasing of in-game items, characters, experience, abilities, etc. for outside funds?

It will not be condoned. Restricting it on a legal basis is beyond our fiduciary means.

Will the game have any level of enforced roleplay?

No, but serious role-players will be given certain in-game benefits that will not give them mechanical or technical advantages against other players. In other words, there will not be role-playing awards of point bonuses or invulnerabilities, but rather, an opportunity for the serious role player to interact in GM-run storylines and quests.

Will there be any manner of test, essay, interview or other special procedure to allow admittance to only those found desirable?

No. But we will reserve the right to cancel access for customers who choose to spend their time in pursuits deemed hostile to other players and/or staff.

Will multi-accounting be possible and/or sanctioned?

Members may open more than one account. Abuse of multiple accounts to gain substantial mechanical advantages over other players will not be condoned.

Will scripts be possible and/or sanctioned?

Scripts will be possible for traveling and repetitive actions and nothing more. Any AFK scripting is a violation of our TOS.

What level of involvement will the players have with the GM's and the creative process of the game if any?

We are always open for in-game feedback, suggestions, and ideas, and encourage you to write to us at feeback@lostisles.com.

When will the Lost Isles Forums open?

As we approach the alpha test phase of Lost Isles, we will be opening up discussion forums that will allow us to present you with questions so that we may receive your input, and allow you to tell us what you think of the background material published so far.
